Wyndham City 20 Nov 2020

Wyndham City is calling on the community to help shape Wyndham’s future by helping us refresh the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision.

Developed in 2016, the vision is an aspirational document that details what the community wants Wyndham to be like in the coming decades and encompasses everything from parks and playgrounds, to the arts, education, tourism and the local economy, community services, local road projects and more.

Wyndham City CEO Kelly Grigsby said the vision is actioned through the Council Plan, which sets the direction of each four-year Council term.

“The Wyndham 2040 Community Vision is developed together with the community, for the community,” Ms Grigsby said.

“Now that we are entering a new Council term, it’s important that Council, with the Wyndham community, review the vision to ensure that it still reflects the needs of the different places and diverse people which make up Wyndham.”

“The past four years have seen many changes in the way we all live, work and play – particularly due to COVID-19 – and the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision needs to factor in this shift in our lifestyle and values.”

“This in turn will guide the development of the Council Plan for this term.”

“This is an exciting time for Council and the community and is the perfect opportunity to look to the future and work together to plan for the Wyndham we want to see.”

As part of the refresh, Council is conducting extensive community consultation that includes an online survey and a series of community conversations.

Ms Grigsby said letters were currently being sent to 30,000 randomly selected Wyndham residents inviting them to be part of one of five place-based community conversations, which will be held early next year.

“These community conversations will give Council a more in-depth understanding of our residents’ wants and needs,” Ms Grigsby said.

“If you receive a letter in the mail for a community conversation, please consider taking part – this is an important role in helping to shape Wyndham’s future.”

“I also encourage all of our residents, landowners and business owners to head to The Loop and take a short survey to tell us about your vision for Wyndham, and what should be added or changed to the existing vision.”

“Regardless of your age, skill or profession, it is important that we all work together to create Wyndham’s future, and the Wyndham 2040 Community Vision and Council Plan are vital to the future success of our City.”
