Nutrien Ag Solutions Roma agent Rod Turner with a pen of Merinovale Pastoral Co steers. The steers sold to 578c/kg, reaching a top of $1,503 to average $1,286.

Cattle numbers fell to 4,716 at the Roma Store Sale, down from the previous week by 686 head, however prices continued to rise with another new top price record set for Roma.

Cattle were drawn from a wide supply area, and the overall quality of the yarding was mixed. There were limited numbers of large single vendor lines yarded.

A good buying panel was present, including all regular processors, and buyers were operating to very strong competition.

Restocker competition on light weight steers saw new top price records set again with light weight yearling steers improved by 4c to 8c/kg. Heavy feeder steers sold to firm demand, to be dearer by 4c to 16c/kg. Restocker competition also saw medium weight heifers improve by 29c to 31c/kg.

Prices improved for grown steers and heifers off the back of strong processor and feedlot competition, with medium weight grown steers improving by 14c to 29c, and grown heifers under 540kg improved by 11c to 37c/kg.

Cows however eased in price across all weight brackets, with heavy weight cows down by 2c to 16c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg to restockers sold to 576.2c to average 549c/kg.

The largest sample of light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 578.2c to average 505c/kg, a new top price record for Roma. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 486.2c to average 463c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 442.2c to average 427c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed reached a top of 418.2c to average 411c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers sold to a top of 520.2c to average 455c/kg. The largest sample of light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers also made to 520.2c to average 457c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 482.2c to average 444c, while medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers made to 440.2c to average 406c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers over 400kg to feed reached a top of 406.2c to average 402c/kg. T

he best of the grown steers to processors sold to 379.2c to average 366c/kg. The largest sample of grown heifers reached a top of 362.2c to average 360c/kg.

Medium weight 3 score cows sold to a top of 317.2c to average 299c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 316.2c to average 305c, while heavy weight 4 score cows sold to 325.2c to average 311c/kg.

The best of the heavy weight bulls made to 335.2c to average 329c/kg.

Cows and calves reached a top of $1730/unit.

A total of 4,716 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 578c/kg and averaged 528c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 578c/kg and averaged 472c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 486c/kg and averaged 430c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 442c/kg and averaged 397c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 420c/kg and averaging 392c/kg.

Cows and calves hit $1,730/unit.
