Northern Beaches’ War on Waste

We have launched a new video as part of our Northern Beaches’ War on Waste to encourage locals to reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill.

Instead wherever you can - please avoid, reduce, reuse and recycle.

These small steps can make a big difference:

Plastic, glass and metal containers go in the yellow lidded bin: Remember containers from your bathroom, kitchen and laundry can be recycled if you pop them in your yellow lidded binSort your recycling and take soft plastics to the supermarket: the REDcycle program at your local supermarket will make sure your soft plastics are recycled into a number of products such as playground equipment, bollards and signageMake the most of your leftovers and food scraps: pop your leftovers in the fridge and throw your food scraps into your compost binGive away clothes in good condition and give them a second life.

The new video takes a humorous look at what can happen when you use your red landfill bin for items that could be recycled or reused.

You can find other ways to reduce your waste here.
