In Spring 2020, Council launched a popup ‘Street Play’ pilot program.

This is where streets are transformed into public open spaces for kids to play and the community to enjoy.

Streets participating in the program will be temporarily closed to through traffic or have additional parking restrictions so that road space can be ‘opened for people’ (access to properties will be maintained at all times through formal traffic control).

Formal traffic control will be in place to allow resident access at this time; however, we would encourage residents to minimise trips during these times if possible as the ‘play’ activities will be taking place.

Laycock Street, Neutral Bay - Sunday 8 November 2020, 1pm-5pm.

The street will be closed to through traffic from the intersection with Yeo Street and approximately 10 parking spaces around the centre of the street will be closed off/unavailable to allow space for ball games etc.

McHatton Street - Friday 13 November 2020, 11.30am-1.30pm

Between No. 4 McHatton Street and the Pacific Highway. During this time, students from North Sydney Demonstration School will use the road space for games, activities and ‘play’ space.

Rosalind Street & Edwin Street - Sunday 15 November 2020, 1pm-5pm

Close Edwin Street, and a section of Rosalind Street between No. 16 and No. 35. The street will be closed to through traffic and approx. 10 parking spaces in Edwin Street and 9 parking spaces in Rosalind Street (near to the intersection with Rosalind St) will be closed off/unavailable to provide a space for games for small children and separate area for ball games/scooters etc.
