30 October, 2020

The entries are in and once again the Lithgow Halloween Smartphone Film Competition proves to be a big hit around the world.

426 entries from 60 countries were received for the 2020 Smartphone film competition. Strong representation from local entrants was also received with the standard and number of entries a great result for only the second year of competition.

The entries have been shortlisted and sent for judging to the independent judges from SF3 Smartfone Flickfest, Australia’s premier smartphone film competition. Angela Blake from SF3 said, “we look forward to this time of year when we get to see just how creative and scary people can be with just a smartphone”.

All shortlisted films are available for viewing and voting on via the Lithgow Halloween Digital website. And, in a first this year, the popular ‘People’s Choice’ category winner is to be voted for on the website. Also keep an eye out for film entries appearing on the Lithgow Tourism and Events social media channels @LithgowTourismandEvents.

Lithgow Mayor, Councillor Ray Thompson said “the phenomenal interest in the Lithgow Halloween Smartphone Film Competition for the 2nd year running from all around the world clearly positions Lithgow Halloween as a significant event on the international movie festival calendar. I look forward to seeing the finalists and casting my vote in the ‘People’s Choice’ category.”
