Interruption to Water Service – Flowmeter Installation at Shaft St and Cook St Reservoirs

22 October, 2020

As part of Council’s water metering and reservoir upgrade projects, Council will be undertaking flowmeter installations at Shaft St and Cook St Reservoirs 23rd, 26th and 28th of October 2020.

Council has engaged a local contractor to undertake the installation of new flowmeters at the Shaft St, Cook St Low and Cook High Reservoirs 23rd, 26th and 28th October 2020 for night works. This will be undertaken as a part of Council’s rollout of smart metering to better capture the water requirements and usage throughout the network. The metering project will allow Council to capture the usage from each service reservoir and better account for usage and losses in the systems across the LGA.

These three reservoirs service properties across the Lithgow township from Bowenfels and Landa Street area across to the Oakey Park. The installations will take place between 9:00pm and 4:00am during the night to reduce the interruption to residents. It is advised that residents may experience a reduction in water pressure or no water whilst works are being undertaken. After completion of the installation, Council will flush water mains to reduce dirty water and return service as soon as practicable.

Residents are advised before using water for domestic purposes to run the first tap that services their property to ensure the water is clean and any dirt released into the system has been flushed before running internal taps.
