Latest advice from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Cooktown – vegetation fire as 5.10pm Sun 4 October 4th October 2020 5:10 PM Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews advises there is a vegetation fire in Cooktown. The fire is burning in the vicinity of Ironwood Avenue, Oaky Creed Road, Percy Road and surrounding streets including Poison Creek Road, Solander Road, Lee Road and Flaggy Road. The fire is posing no threat to property at this time. Firefighters are strengthening containment lines with aerial support and will monitor it overnight. Nearby residents may be affected by smoke. Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat, they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
