Love Local Lessons – Series 2 to launch in Sept/Oct school holidays
Blue Mountains 21 Sep 2020

Blue Mountains City Council is delighted to announce the launch of Love Local Lessons – Series 2, the latest instalment of free, online tutorials for both adults and children.

The seven tutorials – to be released on Monday 28 September – feature inspiring local talent. This includes passionate environmentalist Tom Covell from Hooked on Nature; science and technology educator Kerry Pyle from Build-A-Mind in Winmalee; permaculture enthusiasts Emmanuela Prigioni and Pan Purvey from Lyttleton Stores in Lawson; and master pizza maker Joel Tropiano, from Monte’s Pizza in Blaxland.

In this fresh series of hands-on tutorials, viewers will be taught a range of new skills from building a frog hotel to support local wildlife, to filming an animated sequence, to growing microgreens, to making the perfect pizza dough.

Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “While COVID-19 restrictions have forced many Blue Mountains’ businesses to change the way they operate in 2020, initiatives like Love Local Lessons have given us new ways to showcase the diverse array of local talent and entrepreneurial ingenuity that exists in our community.

“If you are wondering how you’re going to fill in time with your kids these school holidays, I’d strongly recommend watching Love Local Lessons. You and your kids can pick up some new skills while uncovering some fantastic local businesses that you may not have been aware of.”

Love Local Lessons Series 2 is the latest instalment in the Love Local campaign which was launched earlier in the year to assist local businesses to recover from the effects of the bushfires and COVID-19.

The campaign’s message to encourage Blue Mountains residents to ‘shop, play and stay local’ has led to the birth of other Love Local initiatives such as the hugely popular Love Local Live series of live streamed performances by local musicians, which will return for a second series on October 15 (more details on this to come!).

Similarly, Love Local Tradies was launched in early August to assist local tradespeople to secure more local work.  To find out more about the Love Local campaign go to: https://www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/lovelocal
