NSW Rural Fire Service – Planned Burning Off
Balranald (Area) 4 Aug 2020

Are you planning to burn off? Know your legal responsibilities. – Click here for more information.

As you’d be aware it’s a legal requirement for landowners in NSW intending to burn to notify the (NSWRFS) Lower Western Fire Control Centre, at least 24 hours prior to burning.

The good news is that landowners can now advise the NSW RFS of their intention to burn online on the NSW RFS website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify.

For the community, the NSW RFS online portal will provide a means for members of the community to directly submit burn notifications on the NSW RFS website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify.

The implementation of the Online Burn Notifications Module is to assist NSW RFS Members in dealing with burn notifications, including:

·        GIS spatial mapping of all records;

·        Records will be available to all users in real time from when they are entered on the system;

·        The system can be searched by names, addresses, or Brigade areas;

·        Excel downloads are easily available;

·        The system will determine if proposed burns require reporting to National Parks and or Forestry Corporation NSW and send email notifications;

·        The portal will prevent acceptance of notifications during declared Total Fire Bans;

·        When HQ staff update the system to show that a TOBAN is declared, members of the public who have notified that they are planning to burn will be warned not to proceed by both text and email. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact the Lower Western Zone Fire Control Centre
