Council supporting community through latest COVID-19 concerns

30 July 2020

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said Ipswich City Council is aware of latest developments with the new COVID-19 cases in south east Queensland.

“At this stage, all council facilities in Springfield and surrounding suburbs remain open,” she said.

“A fever clinic has been set up at Orion Springfield Central shopping centre and is open from Thursday until Sunday (between 9am-4pm) and residents who have symptoms or are concerned are urged to get tested or see their GP.

“Queensland Health is the lead organisation on this matter and council is committed to supporting our community.

“We will update our community the minute we receive further advice from the State Government.”

Mayor Harding encouraged people to follow state and federal guidelines and adhere to social distancing and other measures to ensure their health and safety.

“Our major focus at the moment is on our community, customers and staff,” she said.

“We will continue to update Ipswich residents as information comes to hand.”

The Local Disaster Management Group, which is chaired by Mayor Harding, has amended its activation status to Lean Forward (prepared to support the community at short notice).
