From early July, current dog and cat registration renewal notices will be posted or emailed to owners within the Yorke Peninsula Council region. Dog registrations are mandatory within South Australia and must be registered by 3 months of ages, or within 14 days of possession. Cat registrations are free and strongly encouraged.

If you have not registered your furry friend, now is the perfect time. Head to www.dogsandcatsonline.com.au (DACO) and follow the links to register.

Dog and cat owners will receive their registration renewal notice in early July. Senior Compliance Officer, Phil Herrmann strongly encourages new owners, or those who no longer have a dog or cat, to please update their information by logging onto DACO or contacting our Council office.

Laws introduced from 1st July, 2018 made microchipping and desexing compulsory for pet owners. Currently, approximately 171 dogs across our region are still not microchipped.

As a gentle warning, from 1 September 2020 an audit will be conducted on dogs and cats that are not microchipped, and fines may be issued to owners that are not compliant.

Please be a responsible pet owner by registering, desexing and microchipping your beloved pet at one of our local veterinarian practices:
