Have your say on Wentworth Falls Lake Park proposals
Blue Mountains 1 Jul 2020

Earlier this year, we asked for community feedback on the upgrade of Wentworth Falls Lake Park. Following valuable input, Council has drafted a preliminary version of a Masterplan, for public review.

These documents are now available on Council’s Have Your Say website until 12 July, along with a list of Frequently Asked Questions and a survey inviting the community to give further feedback.

Funding for the Wentworth Falls Lake Park upgrade is provided by the Western Sydney City Deal Liveability Program. Council has also secured additional funding for a new playground at the park, through the ‘Everyone Can Play’ grant.

Blue Mountains Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill, said: “We value what the community has to say as we develop our District Parks, including Wentworth Falls Lake Park. These improvements are important and we want your help to shape the designs. Consulting with you will help us identify priorities for the area.

“I encourage residents to look at the plans and let us know what you’d like to see at this iconic Blue Mountains park, so that it can continue to provide an enjoyable experience for everyone.”

The proposed upcoming upgrades, to be funded by the Western Sydney City Deal Liveability Program, include an accessible walkway over the dam wall, improvements to the dam wall to support that walkway, a new accessible viewing platform and a new multi-purpose shelter.

There are currently two playgrounds at Wentworth Falls Park. The pirate ship playground remains a popular feature of the area and is still in good condition, so will remain in place. However, Council is now inviting feedback from the community on what they would like to see featured in a new playground at Wentworth Falls Lake in place of the other existing playground.

Wentworth Falls Lake Park is one of four district parks in the Blue Mountains. District Parks are large and high quality parks that cater to the needs of the broader Blue Mountains community and visitors to the City. They offer a wider variety of activities and settings and are often the most popular parks and playgrounds.
