Love Local Lessons to launch in July school holidays
Blue Mountains 30 Jun 2020

Blue Mountains City Council is proud to launch Love Local Lessons, a series of free, online tutorials for both adults and children.

The eight tutorials – to be released throughout July – feature local talent such as Head Coach of the Young Matildas and Future Matildas Leah Blayney, hula-hooping superstar Suzy Spindoll, 8 Things chef Misha Laurent, and Pinot & Picasso’s Brock Waugh.

These locals share their amazing abilities in soccer, cooking, art and circus skills and the first online lessons will be available to watch during the July school holidays.

Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “Love Local Lessons are a fun and entertaining way to showcase the diverse array of local talent and entrepreneurial ingenuity that exists in our community.

“The online tutorials are designed to appeal to both adults and kids, so we can all acquire some new skills, while at the same time supporting and promoting our local businesses.”

Love Local Lessons is the latest instalment in the Love Local campaign which was launched in January to support local businesses in the wake of bush fires. The campaign was adapted to continue to support the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other Love Local initiatives include Love Love Live, a series of performances by local musicians which is being livestreamed to the community via Facebook on Monday nights.

The Love Local Business Directory was launched in May to provide an avenue for local businesses to promote how their businesses have changed during COVID-19. Go to bmcc.nsw.gov.au/love-local/business-directory for more information.

The first session of Love Local Lessons will feature soccer coach Leah Blayney and will be broadcast in the first week of the school holidays on Tuesday, 7 July  – see https://www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/love-local-lessons.
