Libraries to re-open Wednesday, 1 July

Gannawarra Library Service’s branches at Cohuna, Kerang, Leitchville and Quambatook will re-open to the public for borrowing purposes only on Wednesday, 1 July.

Library branches have been closed to the public since late March as part of efforts to stop the spread of Coronavirus, with a ‘click and collect’ program operating throughout June.

“The Gannawarra Library Service thanks its members for their understanding during the past few months and looks forward to the re-opening of its branches,” Council’s Director of Community Wellbeing, Stacy Williams said.

“Visitors to these four popular venues need to be prepared that a number of measures will be in place to ensure the safety of customers and staff at this time.”

As part of these measures, new operating hours will be in place to allow for sufficient time for cleaning venues daily:

Cohuna Library Branch – 12.30pm-4pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from Wednesday, 1 July. Sir John Gorton Library, Kerang – 11am-3pm Monday to Friday from Wednesday, 1 July. Leitchville Library Branch – 2pm-4.30pm Tuesday from Tuesday, 7 July. Quambatook Library Branch – 9.30am-4pm Monday, 10am-4pm Wednesday and 9.30am-12 noon Friday from Wednesday, 1 July.

“There will be limits on the number of patrons allowed in branches at any time, with extended stays discouraged,” Mrs Williams said.

“In line with State Government regulations, people attending braches will be asked to provide their contact details to assist with contract tracing and use hand sanitiser upon entry and checking out any items for borrowing. Those inside these venues will also need to adhere to the 1.5-metre social distancing rule.

“We ask that patrons wishing to return items do so via our external book chutes.”

There will be no access to public computers, printers or copiers at this stage, with the service’s popular Rhyme Time and Story Time programs to continue online.

“Most importantly, please stay home if you are feeling unwell,” Mrs Williams said.
