Have your Say - Draft Operational Plan and Budget 2020-2021

Council’s draft Operational Plan and Budget 2020-2021 is now on public exhibition for 28 days and open for comment until 5pm Wednesday 22July 2020.

The Operational Plan and Budget 2020-2021 outlines Council’s daily activities and capital projects as well as incorporating Council’s budget, revenue policy and fees and charges over the next twelve months and aligns Council’s works with strategies identified in the community strategic plan – Moree Plains 2027 – Your Shire. The Plan. Our Future.

The 28 day period of public exhibition is an opportunity for community members to submit comments on the allocation of resources and projects Council is planning to undertake in the new financial year.

Council’s General Manager Lester Rodgers, was pleased that Council was in a position to ensure that fees and charges (other than statutory fees) remained at 2019/2020 levels.

Council’s water consumption charges for potable water were also being reduced:

Moree Plains Shire Council’s Mayor Katrina Humphries has commended the hard work of Council staff and Councillors for putting together an Operational Plan and Budget that will meet the needs of our Shire now and into the future.

“The role of local Council has moved towards investing in infrastructure and projects to develop our community and the liveability of our Shire.

“Over the next 12 months according to the plan the community will continue to see important upgrades occur to emergency services facilities, pools and sporting fields as well as commencement of works on the North-South road link at the Moree Intermodal site to the south of Moree.

“In addition to these projects Council will continue to take care of its traditional local government responsibilities of roads, waste, water and sewer services,” explained Mayor Humphries.
