Shire of Ashburton phase three reopening of facilities

In line with State Government advice, the Shire of Ashburton is pleased to reactivate and increase capacity at our community facilities from Saturday 6 June.

From tomorrow:

All parks, playgrounds, dog exercise areas and skate-parks within the Shire of Ashburton will be open and available for community members. If the playground/skate park is too crowded, consider coming back at another time. Public barbecue facilities and water fountains will be available for use. Use of outdoor gym equipment is permitted while indoor gyms are required to be supervised at all times. With this in mind Onslow Gym will operate Monday – Friday from 4am – 8am and 4pm – 8pm. Programming will recommence at each of our libraries from Monday 8 June, including storytime and rhyme time. Registration is essential to ensure physical distancing measures are in place Shire indoor recreational facilities are available for use and are permitted to allow up to a maximum of 100 patrons per undivided space, up to 300 patrons per venue.

Please adhere to the COVID Safety Plan and guidelines in place when booking Shire facilities and continue physical distancing, good hygiene and be aware the 2 square metre rule applies to all activities.

All community members are encouraged to download the Australian Government’s COVIDsafe app to assist in contact tracing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Community groups, sporting clubs and local businesses are encouraged to get in touch with the Shire and to ensure the appropriate COVID Safety plans and procedures are put in place.

As part of this stage of easing restrictions, phase 3 will see an increase in the number of people at non-work gatherings and additional businesses are now allowed to reopen.

All beauty and personal care services are permitted to resume under COVID Safe guidelines. Hospitality businesses such as food businesses and licensed premises can now operate with seated service only, and alcohol may now be served without a meal at licensed premises. Updated COVID Safety plans are required to reflect the changes under phase 3. For more information on phase two for hospitality and small businesses please refer to the WA Government website or contact the Shire’s Environmental Health team on 08 9188 4444. Social indoor and outdoor gatherings including weddings, funerals and places of worship are allowed up to 100 people in any space, or 300 people for venues with multiple spaces. Travel is now also permitted across all of Western Australia with the exception of remote Aboriginal communities who remain restricted under the State Government’s Emergency Management Act.
