Confirmed Blackwater COVID-19 case: Council customer service centre and library closed until further notice

Posted on May 27, 2020

Central Highlands Regional Council’s Blackwater customer service centre and library will remain closed until further notice.

The closures are in line with council’s business continuity plan in response to a confirmed COVID-19 case within the region.

Customers are encouraged to contact council via the phone on 1300 242 686, email via [email protected] or via council’s website centralhighlands.qld.gov.au

Mayor Kerry Hayes said the Blackwater community and Queensland Health had council’s full support as it responds to the COVID-19 case.

‘This is a reminder that COVID-19 is not over, and I extend my sincere condolences to the friends and family of the young man who lost his life,’ he said.

‘We’re all in this together and if we keep following the protocols, we will stop a potential spread of COVID-19 in our region.

‘That means people must continue what they have been doing to stay healthy – be vigilant about social distancing, stay at home if you’re unwell and get tested if you show symptoms or are concerned.

‘Council in its role as a disaster management coordinator will support Queensland Health as the lead agency responding to the pandemic.’

Mayor Hayes said official fever clinics were in Emerald at the Emerald Medical Group, Lot 1 Pilot Farm Road, and in Blackwater from Thursday 28 May 2020 at the Blackwater showgrounds in Turpentine Street. General practitioners also undertake testing.
