Business and community support

Council is working collaboratively with businesses, community groups and government agencies to protect more vulnerable residents and the broader community.

Earlier this year Council waived fees and charges associated with outdoor dining and displays and booking cancellations and offered significant rent reductions to its commercial tenants.

Council has produced free printable colour posters for local businesses to remind their patrons of physical distancing guidelines and advise of any limits to the number of people permitted in outlets.

Following NSW Government changes easing restrictions on construction work to facilitate social distancing measures, builders and their employees are now able to work on sites seven days a week during their approved hours of operation.

Council has engaged with sporting clubs and associations and did not charge fees for sporting grounds and ovals when the pandemic prevented them from being used. Fees and charges for sporting grounds have also been maintained at 2019/20 levels for 2020/21.

Policies are also in place to deal with economic hardship and any additional responses to that will be developed on a progressive basis.

Council continues to work with food premises and other businesses to ensure compliance with current health orders.

Face-to-face citizenship ceremonies have been placed on hold until later this year.

Council rangers are also assisting the NSW Government and police in reminding residents to observe the NSW Government’s physical distancing rules which are available here.
