Caravan parks to close, Council meetings go online

The Borough of Queenscliffe is closing all of its caravan parks and will close Thursday’s Council meeting to in-person public attendance, in line with escalating advice from the Victorian and Federal Governments.

From 5:00pm on Tuesday 24 March the parks will be closed to new guests, with all tenants to vacate the park by 5:00pm on Thursday 26 March. Caravan park users with an annual site rental will not be charged site fees for the period the parks are closed.

Council advises caravan park users that caravans should be secured and locked, and while they can remain on site during the closure if they wish, Council is not liable for the loss of any items.

The Ordinary Council Meeting scheduled for Thursday 26 March will also be closed to public attendance, instead being recorded and published on Council’s website the following day. Members of the public will still be able to ask public questions, which will be read by the Chair and answered in line with standard question time guidelines.

“The health and safety of our community is Council’s highest priority,” said Queenscliffe CEO Martin Gill. “With health experts in the Victorian and Federal Governments recommending greater health restrictions over the weekend, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to close our caravan parks and change the way we run our Council meetings.”
