This is a difficult and unprecedented time for our community and Council is particularly mindful of people who are most vulnerable and isolated. We understand the uncertainty of the time ahead and will continue to work to serve and support our community as much as we can.

Below is a list of community support resources currently available:

Meals on Wheels

The Crows Nest Centre will continue to provide a Meals on Wheels to North Sydney Local Government Area residents. For more information on how to access this service please contact the Crows Nest Centre on (02) 9439 5122.

Linen Service

The Crows Nest Centre will continue to provide a Linen Service to North Sydney and Mosman Local Government Area residents. Some changes to the way the service is delivered may be required to maintain government guidelines and recommendations. Shopping Assistance

If you have difficulty using public transport, do not drive, live alone or are physically challenged, the Crows Nest Centre can assist you with shopping. Services are offered in these ways:

Assisted Shopping Bus - Door to door service with the assistance of friendly, dedicated volunteers providing individualised support as required. Home Delivery - Simply phone the Shopping Coordinator with your shopping list, and one of our dedicated volunteers will place your order and it will be delivered right to your door.

Community Centres update

North Sydney Community Centre is running both online and onsite adult classes & workshops. To find out more about enrolment and updates to their services please visit their website, call 9922 2299 or email [email protected].

The Northside Produce Market, which is a fundraiser for the Centre, has reopened and is running the first & third Saturday of every month, click here for more information.

Kirribilli Centre has established a community service for people who are self-isolated such as picking up essential supplies. Community members can call the centre on 9922 4428 or contact Carl on 0433 927 723. The Kirribilli Centre has also developed some practical tips and suggestions for self-care which are on their website.

  

Crows Nest Centre staff and volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes to continue to provide in-home support for older people and people with a disability. Their services include meals, shopping and freshly laundered sheets and towels. They also provide meals to people who are homeless or at risk. Community Connect Transport is continuing to offer transport services to support vulnerable North Sydney residents, allowing them to access local services and essential supplies. All Community Connect Transport staff have undertaken COVID-19 Infection Control Training. They are also utilising larger buses within their fleet that are cleaned daily and have fewer clients on board at any one time to meet social distancing requirements. Community Connect Transport offers a Council Shuttle Services for local residents including shopping trips to Woolworths in Neutral Bay on Wednesdays and Fridays. They also provide a shuttle service within the North Sydney LGA every Thursday. Community members can call them on 9490 9500 for more information.

Housing and Homelessness

We will continue to support and provide housing advice and information to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. If you are worried about yourself or someone you know please contact Council on (02) 9936 8100. If you need immediate housing assistance call Link 2 Home on 1800 152 152.

Helping seniors, people with disability and carers

The Department of Communities and Justice has developed a webpage, which is being regularly updated to help seniors, people with disability and carers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The webpage includes a range of resources including where to get up-to-date information on COVID-19, how to access financial support, tips on maintaining mental health and more.
