Although some events and gatherings of more than 100 people have been cancelled or postponed in line with government requirements, all Councillors and our teams continue to work together to provide the support and services the community needs whilst keeping our people and our community safe.

In the event of the situation worsening, Council has business continuity plans that will ensure important and essential services will continue to be provided, regardless of circumstances.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack has urged the community to unite, saying Council will be there to support residents and businesses. "These are no doubt difficult times for us all but it’s important to remember that there are many great things in our community that we can all continue to enjoy safely," he said.

"Our beautiful parks and gardens remain open as always, providing perfect autumn-time playgrounds for us all, while our libraries, MAMA, and other cultural and recreational facilities are continuing to operate for the time being.

"I know we’ll all keep working together in a calm and positive way to get through these tough times and I’d urge anyone who needs a break from the worries of the current situation to call into our libraries, visit our parks, or enjoy our sporting facilities while at all times following the government guidelines which are designed to slow the spread of the virus.

"We also offer great online activities for people remaining within their homes, such as library services or viewing MAMA’s collection."

Council’s Customer Service Centre will remain open during tomorrow afternoon’s half-day public holiday and anyone in need of our help can come in or call us on 60 238 111 during business hours, 1300 133 391 after hours, or by email at [email protected]. Albury Airport remains open, however, there are changes to schedules so anyone travelling by air should liaise directly with airlines.

Next Monday night’s Council meeting will go ahead as scheduled although in the interests of public health, we encourage those interested in proceedings to watch the meeting on livestream.

Changes to our programs, events and activities are listed on our website and will be updated regularly so that our community can remain fully informed on the latest developments.

"I’d like everyone to be aware that your Council is acting in a positive and agile way to ensure community services continue to be delivered in line with government advice," Cr Mack said.

"Our city has always had a great sense of community and we’ll continue to support each other so that we can all get through the challenges that lie ahead and emerge stronger than ever when things return to normal."
