In response to COVID-19 the Town of Claremont is taking measures to support safety and wellbeing in our community.

As of Monday 23 March, 2020 the Town will not be hosting public gatherings, programs or events, as advised by the Australian Government.  This includes the closure of the Town's administration building, Claremont Aquatic Centre & the Claremont Community Hub & Library.

A component of the workforce will be working remotely and, we are committed to minimising the disruption to services to the community.  To enable this safely, we ask that all customer contact is through email or telephone during this time.

The Town staff and Elected Members can be contacted via email and telephone (details below).  Council will continue to make decisions fortnightly through a teleconference meetings.  Public Questions for upcoming Council Meetings can be submitted through the Town’s website.

The Town is a responsive and adaptable organisation with a range of skilled staff and dedicated Elected Members, with a focus on caring for our community.

“The safety and health of our community is at the forefront of these measures.  These are temporary, cautionary steps and are being implemented to ensure as little disruption to our services as possible. I’d like to thank our residents for their patience and understanding of these changes that have been made in the best interests of our community,” Mayor Jock Barker said of the decision.

This decision follows on from previous Federal Government advice to cancel all upcoming community gatherings.  On Friday 13 March, 2020 the Town announced the cancellation and or, if possible, postponement of the following community events; ARTTRA Light Festival (27-29 March), Pets at the Park (5 April), ANZAC Day Ceremony (25 April), Get into Health Fun Run and Fair (17 May), and the monthly History in a Coffee Cup series.
