For immediate release

17 March 2020

During the current health emergency, Strathfield Council is focused on preventing the spread of COVID-19 and supporting the community.

With this in mind, Council has implemented a number of measures to protect the community:

Effective immediately, all Council facilities and community centres will be closed. This includes Strathfield Town Hall, Bates Street Community Centre, The Dutton Centre and sporting fields. These facilities will be closed until further notice. The Strathfield Connector buses and Customer Service are being sanitised regularly. Hand sanitiser stations are provided at all touch points. Several of Council’s programs have been suspended until further notice. Residents are advised to check the website for whether a program is continuing before arriving at the venue – www.strathfield.nsw.gov.au Several upcoming events and workshops have been postponed or cancelled, including Movies in the Park, Anzac Day, Citizenship Ceremonies, planning workshops and a welcome to new residents’ event.

Mayor Doueihi said: “the health and safety of the Strathfield community and Council staff are the highest priority of Council. Council will continue to monitor information provided by NSW Health and the Federal Government, and consider further actions as required.”
