Play spaces, skate parks and outdoor gym equipment have been closed to the public following advice from health authorities to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

There are 95 playgrounds, three skate parks and 11 outdoor gym areas in the Campbelltown LGA.

Sportsgrounds remain open but people should follow the advice of federal and state health authorities and limit personal training sessions to two people, being one trainer and one participant.

Dog parks also remain open but people are expected to maintain social distancing while there.

Council’s open space team will continue working throughout the health situation so residents can enjoy the planned revamped local and district play spaces at locations like Eagle Farm Reserve and Milton Park, when restrictions are lifted.

Mayor George Brticevic said people should not be using play spaces while restrictions are in place and encouraged practicing social distancing principles.

“Our open spaces remain open for people to walk through and get some fresh air as long as you observe physical distancing advice, do not gather in groups of more than two, unless you are with those you live with at home,” Cr Brticevic said.

“With the school holidays approaching and many children already being kept home from school, I encourage parents to ensure their children are following social distancing rules and not meeting up with friends at places like our skate parks,” he said.

“We must all make sacrifices at this time to limit the spread of the virus and protect everyone in our community.”
