Bayside City Council is closing all playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms, in line with stage three restrictions announced by the State Government in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

As of 11:59pm Monday 30 March 2020, playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms will close and new restrictions will apply across Victoria.

Public gatherings will be limited to two people, reduced from the previous cap of 10 people.

If these directions are breached, you can face an on-the-spot fine of $1,652 for individuals and $9,913 for businesses.

The health and safety of our community is our top priority and these measures will help ensure everyone is adhering to social distancing guidelines. If you can stay home, you must stay home.

Leaving your residence to exercise is permitted however outdoor gyms such as the exercise trail at Dendy Park are now closed.

Other closures include:

All Bayside Beaches All sports pavilions Brighton golf course Sandringham golf course Cheltenham golf course Sandringham Leisure Centre Rickett’s Point Café Middle Brighton Baths Highett Tennis Centre

Beaches remain closed until further notice. If you consider a visit to the beach for exercise essential, you are able to use the foreshore for recreational exercise (surf, swim, bike ride, walk, run, etc.) but congregating is not permitted. Dog beaches remain open and normal restrictions apply.

Please note, public water fountains have been switched off and public BBQs are now closed.

Council is closely monitoring the situation and taking the necessary measures to protect our community from the spread of COVID-19 based on advice from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Australia’s Chief Medical Officer.

Bayside is a connected and responsible community and we urge our residents to do the right thing.
