Beach Closure Update
Bayside City Council 30 Mar 2020

On Saturday 28 March 2020, Bayside City Council closed it's beaches to the public in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Beaches remain closed until further notice.

To help mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19, the State Government have advised there are only four reasons to leave your home during the coronavirus pandemic:

1. food and supplies

2. medical care

3. work or education

4. exercise

If you consider a visit to the beach essential for your daily exercise, you are able to use the foreshore for recreational exercise (surf, swim, bike ride, walk, run, etc.) but congregating or laying on the beach is not permitted. Dog beaches remain open and normal dog walking restrictions apply.

Council is closely monitoring the situation and taking the necessary measures to protect our community from the spread of COVID-19 based on advice from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Australia’s Chief Medical Officer.

Bayside is a connected and responsible community and we urge our residents to do the right thing.

Information correct as of time of publication. The situation is ever-evolving and advice can change at anytime.*
