Blue Mountains Cultural Centre launches VIRTUAL INSIGHT
Blue Mountains 27 Mar 2020

During these difficult and uncertain times when non-essential services are closing and we are all staying home as much as possible, it’s important to stay positive and see beauty and inspiration in our daily lives.

To help fill that void, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre has launched VIRTUAL INSIGHT, a curated selection of digital content the whole community can access for free.

VIRTUAL INSIGHT will include DIY art making activities, staff insights in our collection and exhibitions, book and game recommendations, wholesome food recipes from the café and more.

The aim is to provide the community with some positive content and activities to keep you sane, busy and inspired.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said the creativity, ingenuity of this program is astounding.

“As the news changes and more facilities are closed, it’s easy to feel anxious and sad all the time,” Mayor Greenhill said.

“Programs like VIRTUAL INSIGHT bring joy and hope back to our daily lives, at a time when we need it more than ever.

“You may be sick of hearing me say this, but our Blue Mountains community is one of a kind and we have always found a way to get through any crisis or disaster together, and usually with humour, kindness and grace.

“Seeing Council staff embody those things and work tirelessly to bring some of that to the community is truly inspirational, and I’m looking forward to getting online and making use of this wonderful resource.”

Artistic Programs Manager Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, Sabrina Roesner said: “It’s critical that we remember the power of art and creativity, especially in these difficult times.

“Blue Mountains Cultural Centre staff are working with artists and creatives from throughout the City to provide our community with inspiring, and insightful, digital content.

“The team will deliver creative online tutorials, online studio tours, podcast playlists and much more. This is the time to look after one another, and to be creative and patient.”
