Changes to City of Fremantle Customer Service
City of Fremantle 26 Mar 2020

In accordance with the latest measures from the state government to limit the spread of COVID-19, the City of Fremantle’s customer service desk at the Fremantle Oval administration building will be closed from close of business tomorrow.

The move will not affect customer service delivery as Fremantle residents and ratepayers will still be able to make all customer service enquiries via email at [email protected] and over the phone on 1300 MY FREO (1300 693 796).

All residential parking permits will be extended by a further six months and the City will be in contact with permit holders directly to update them with this information.

The City is also still accepting all planning and building applications.  Customers can lodge these by sending them to the City’s postal address - PO Box 807, Fremantle WA 6959 – or by email at [email protected].

Information about the City’s facilities and services is also available on the City’s website at fremantle.wa.gov.au.

The latest COVID-19 restrictions announced last night included the closure of local government facilities not essential to the continued functioning of the City.

The closure of the customer service desk means the pick-up and drop-off of items from the Fremantle Library will no longer be available, however City of Fremantle Chief Executive Officer Phillip St John said the City’s book delivery service would be expanded to compensate.

“It’s unfortunate that we’ve had to take this step because I know how much people love the library and there will be lots of people stuck at home looking for things to do over the coming weeks,” Mr St John said.

“To ensure that people can still access library services the City has extended its housebound library delivery service to twice weekly drop-offs on Mondays and Thursdays to all City of Fremantle library members in the Fremantle and East Fremantle areas,” Mr St John said.

“This service was previously provided to elderly or otherwise housebound people who were unable to visit the library, but now it’s been expanded to cater for local library members staying at home due to the COVID-19 virus.

“The service includes all the resources currently available at the library such as books, magazines, DVDs, CDs and more.

“Our friendly library staff will still be sending out regular newsletters to library members to update people on what items are available from our collection and make recommendations on their favourite books.”
