City of Darwin will implement new Australian Government Covid-19 guidelines announced overnight by closing public swimming pools, libraries and community centres at 5pm today.  Facilities impacted include:

Parap Swimming Pool Nightcliff Swimming Pool Casuarina Swimming Pool Darwin City Library Nightcliff Library Karama Library Lyons Community Centre Malak Community Centre Nightcliff Community Centre

  Casuarina Library closed on Friday 20 March.

Tenants operating within City of Darwin community centres will advise their stakeholders directly of any changes to operations as a result of Covid-19.

City of Darwin is encouraging customers to pay for animal registration, rates, rate instalments and parking infringements on-line.   City of Darwin CEO Scott Waters said the aim was to reduce the risk of Covid-19 being spread across Darwin and he encouraged people to make use of the online payment option.

“Social distancing is key to reducing the spread of Covid-19 according to Australian Government guidelines.”

“There will be more changes over the coming days, weeks and months,” he added.

“Our focus will continue to be on ensuring the continuity and delivery of essential services to meet the needs of our community.”
