Pocket park to provide green haven

A ‘pocket park’ will provide open space in the centre of the New Town retail precinct.

The Council tonight endorsed the concept for the small park, which is to be created on land owned by the Salvation Army fronting New Town Road.

The park will be part of the ongoing New Town Retail Precinct Upgrade, which has already produced a range of pedestrian upgrades and beautification projects and will include the installation of several pieces of public art.

Inner-city residential development approved

Unanimous approval has been given for a multi-use development in Hobart with 68 residential units.

Located at the corner of Patrick and Murray streets, the proposed development comprises space for general retail and hire and bulky goods sales as well as 68 multiple dwellings.

The proposal features a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom units in a nine-storey building that includes two basement levels with underground car parking.
