20 February 2020

Women in our community are making significant achievements to empower other women!

Strathfield Council will celebrate International Women’s Day on Friday 6 March at Strathfield Town Hall. The morning tea is open to local residents, business women, community groups and leaders to attend with the aim of raising awareness for women’s equality.

The theme for International Women’s Day this year is Generation Equality, which is a call for everyone to join forces to co-create a vision where everyone is free and equal.

Strathfield Council is delighted to announce that the keynote speaker will be Patricia Garcia*. Inspirational humanitarian and human rights advocate, Patricia has spent over 20 years in war zones providing assistance to refugee women.

This year’s event will be in support of UN Women Australia, an organisation that promotes women’s empowerment and gender equality, and was established to accelerate progress to meet the needs of women and girls worldwide. Strathfield Council encourage attendees to make a donation to UN Women Australia.
