Council’s specialist contractors, recently commenced stabilisation works along the cliff face above Douglas Park Drive (between the causeway and Moreton Park Rd intersection also known as Blades Bridge).

Works involve temporary, daytime, road closures while the contractors were carrying out works.

Unfortunately, during removal of overlying vegetation it was discovered that a large boulder has cracked. Geotechnical assessment has advised that the rock is at high risk of falling within days.

The boulder is at least 10t in size and if it moved it would likely slide and fall onto the road beneath causing an unacceptable risk to road users. The recent rains increase this hazard.

As such, based on strong advice from our geotechnical specialists, Council will maintain a full road closure until such time as the boulder has been addressed. As this is a very hazardous process we anticipate that this will take until the end of next week (weather permitting).

Council apologies for any inconvenience for our community. We will keep the community and road users informed of progress in addressing is urgent situation and return to re-opening the road outside of construction hours as soon as possible.
