Claremont celebrates Lunar New Year
Town of Claremont 24 Jan 2020

Lion dances, traditional performances, a Chinese calligrapher, face painters and two Asian food trucks will transform Avion Way into a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration as residents and visitors welcome Year of the Rat on Thursday night.

Mayor Jock Barker said the Town had partnered with the Perth's Chung Wah Association to introduce this special cultural celebration to Claremont.

"Street activities and traditional festivities will commence from 5:00pm on Avion Way, with the lion dance starting at 6:00pm," Mayor Barker said.

"A symbol of good luck and prosperity, the traditional lion dance will weave its way with the God of Fortune through Claremont Quarter and arrive at the festive street party for two further performances at 6:45pm and 7:30pm."

Avion Way businesses are gearing up for the night of festivities that will complement Thai restaurant Mortazilla by Lemongrass and specially designed red themed treats by The Acai Corner.
