Local businesses and the community invited to get involved in Inland Rail project

Local business could be in for a boost by registering their interest in the Inland Rail project set to enhance 173 kilometres of existing rail corridor between Stockinbingal and Parkes (S2P). A regional supplier briefing will be held for local businesses on Tuesday 4 February 2020 from 6pm–8pm at Forbes Services Memorial Club, 41–43 Templar Street, Forbes. Local business owners can register online at https://inlandrail.artc.com.au/S2P to attend the briefing and learn more about how to tender for work.

Inland Rail Southern NSW Stakeholder Engagement Manager Heath Martin said Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and is being built in some of the most complex environments in the country.

“Work to date as part of the Stockinbingal to Parkes project has included environmental and hydrology studies, engineering design work as well as engagement with the community,” Mr Martin said.  

“The Daroobalgie crossing loop construction is being is being fast tracked and is proposed to start this year. Once construction begins, the crossing loop will take approximately six months to complete.  “We welcome local businesses to register for event, meet the project team and find out more about the Inland rail tender process and major supply chains including structure, supply requirements and other opportunities,” Mr Martin said.  

Community members are also invited to drop into one of three community sessions in February to learn how the Stockinbingal to Parkes (S2P) project is progressing at - Daroobalgie When: Tuesday 4 February 2020, 9am–12pm Where: Forbes Central West Livestock Exchange, Back Yamma Road, Daroobalgie, NSW
