Council to stay in touch over Christmas

Published on 11 December 2019

Essential staff will be on call for emergencies while our offices are closed for the festive season.

The Civic Centre and some services will close over the Christmas and New Year period but residents with urgent issues can call us on

5593 7100 and speak to an on-call officer.

We will close at 1 pm, Friday 20 December and re-open on Thursday 2 January 2020.

Mayor Neil Trotter wished all residents a happy and safe festive season.

“On behalf of councillors and council staff I would like to wish all of our Shire residents a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,” he said.

“This time of year is a great opportunity to spend quality time with our family and loved ones.

“The weather has been a bit ordinary so far this summer but don’t forget that the Shire pools are open and offer a lot of activities for you and your friends to enjoy your break.

“Last Christmas we had some issues with bins overflowing at Port Campbell because of the increased number of holidaymakers on the Great Ocean Road. We’ve planned ahead this year and they will be emptied three times daily, with extra services if required.”

Cr Trotter encouraged everyone to be careful on the roads and in the water, and to remain alert for fire danger warnings.

“If there is an emergency, watch our Facebook page and website for information and updates,” he said.

“If you have any concerns or queries, call us on 5593 7100 or you can always contact your local Councillor.”
