Noongar Boodjar Elder named Male Elder of the Year

Noongar Boodjar Elder Greg Little from Harvey was named Male Elder of the Year in Canberra this year.

Mr Little was recognised for his contribution to the South West Noongar community, most prominently his two decades of work as a prison support officer at Bunbury Regional Prison where he launched the Journey Ways program in 2018. Mr Little is a member of the prisoner risk assessment group and provides crisis and family counselling which has encouraged inmates to form positive connections with their families and each other.

Mr Little is also a five-time recipient of Noongar of the Year awards.

The Shire recognised Mr Little’s achievements at its Annual Dinner and celebrated his contribution to the local community.

Mr Little regularly provides a Welcome to Country at Shire events, he was thanked for sharing his wisdom and culture with the Shire.
