Claremont welcomes new representatives
Town of Claremont 5 Dec 2019
Mayor Jock Barker and Councillors of the Town of Claremont extended a warm welcome to two newly elected councillors at a swearing-in ceremony on Monday 28 October, 2019.

Cr Peter Telford was sworn in as a newly elected councillor for the East Ward, replacing Cr Alastair Tulloch, who had held an East Ward seat since 2011 and did not re-nominate.

Cr Annette Suann was sworn in to the South Ward, replacing Cr Chris Mews who had held the seat since 2011.

Cr Kate Main was re-elected to the East Ward, and the incumbent West Ward councillors, Cr Peter Browne OAM JP and Cr Peter Edwards, were re-elected unopposed.

Mayor Barker acknowledged the valuable contribution to the Town by outgoing councillors Chris Mews and Alastair Tulloch.

‘On behalf of the Council and Chief Executive Officer Liz Ledger, I would like to thank Cr Mews and Cr Tulloch for their service to the Town and to our community,’ said Mayor Barker at the ceremony.

‘I would also like to congratulate our newly elected councilors, Cr Telford and Cr Suann, and extend a warm welcome to both. We look forward to working together with you to serve the Claremont community.’

The 10 elected members of the Town of Claremont Council include Mayor Jock Barker, Cr Sara Franklyn (West Ward), Cr Jill Goetze (South Ward), Cr Bruce Haynes (East Ward) and Cr Paul Kelly (South Ward) – whose terms all expire in 2021 – as well as the three re-elected members, Cr Kate Main, Cr Peter Browne and Cr Peter Edwards, and the two new Councillors whose terms expire in 2023.
