Don’t be on your own this Christmas Day

How do you spend your Christmas Day?

If you don’t have friends or family to be with, come along to the 12th annual Christmas lunch, hosted by Macedon Ranges Shire Council.

Mayor Janet Pearce urged residents to attend, share a meal and enjoy the company of others as well as an afternoon of entertainment from 11.30am to 2pm on Wednesday 25 December at the Kyneton Town Hall.

“Don’t be on your own this Christmas Day. Come and enjoy some great food and company,” Cr Pearce said.

“We can help those who are without transport and unable to get to the hall. Even Santa is keen to come along. And everyone under the age of 16 who attends will receive a present.”

Council will have volunteers to help run the event, but would appreciate more people to be Christmas Day Lunch Ambassadors on the day and help make guests feel welcome.

“If you’d like to be involved as a volunteer, we are looking for Christmas Day Lunch Ambassadors to have lunch with those who attend on their own,” Cr Pearce said.

“The idea is to match people who come alone with someone who is willing to having a chat and make them feel welcome and share in the Christmas spirit.”

To register as a Christmas Lunch Ambassador, contact Steph Harper on (03) 5422 0258 (available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday).

We are also looking for a Santa volunteer and kitchen assistants to help with preparation on Monday 23 December, Tuesday 24 December and Christmas Day 25 December.

Bookings are essential. The event is alcohol-free and open to Macedon Ranges residents only.

For bookings, please call 1300 888 802 or book online.

Please leave your name, age (to assist with age-appropriate presents), postal address and phone number and you will be sent a ticket/invitation via Australia Post, or given the option to print the ticket.
