FREE microchip for your furry friend

Cessnock City Council is proud to once again offer local residents a free microchipping day for their furry friends on Saturday 7 December from 9am to 2pm in the Council Admin Building carpark.

Microchipping your pet is one of the most important things you can do as it ensures they are easily returned home if they become lost, rather than being unnecessarily impounded.

This is a great opportunity for community members to get their dog or cat microchipped, free of charge.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent is pleased to see this wonderful initiative being rolled out in our community once again.

“Our free microchipping days are always so popular and I encourage anyone who has a dog or cat that needs a microchip to come on down and get it done.”

“Council Rangers are not there to pass judgement about your dog not being microchipped, but rather see it as an opportunity to engage the community in a positive discussion about responsible pet ownership.”

It is important to note that Council Rangers will not microchip litters of puppies as they are at high risk of not being vaccinated or vet checked. Please also ensure your dog is on a lead and your cat is contained on the day.
