FREE green waste drop-off events commencing soon Published: 31 October 2019

Residents are reminded Cardinia Shire Council’s two free green waste drop-off weekends will commence from next weekend, Friday 8 November 2019.

The service is a great way to assist Cardinia Shire residents to clean up and reduce the fire fuel load on their properties in the lead up to the summer fire danger period.

The green waste drop-off events are a free service accepting residential amounts of green waste, including: flowers, garden prunings, grass clippings, leaves, tree branches and trunks (up to 30 centimetres wide and 1 metre long), and weeds.

Residents must present photo ID as proof of residence within Cardinia Shire to access the free service. Waste will only be accepted from residential vehicles and trailers; commercial business operators cannot use this service.

Hard waste collections underway

Meanwhile, Cardinia Shire Council’s hard waste collections continue across the shire, with Zone 1 collections concluding Friday 1 November and Zone 2 collections commencing from Monday 4 November.

The hard waste collections are being conducted in five zones across the shire, with one zone collected each week for five weeks.

Hard waste collection items should be stacked into five piles: general waste, e-waste, scrap metal and whitegoods, mattresses and couches and bundled/tied green waste to ensure each waste type is collected by the correct truck for recycling or disposal.
