Queenscliff will be one of the many beneficiaries in the recent $370 million Geelong City Deal announced this month.

The deal incorporates a number of wide-ranging infrastructure, tourism and research projects, but of most interest close to home is the Queenscliff Ferry Terminal upgrade. The Australian Government has invested $10 million alongside Searoad Ferries’ $5.9 million into the redevelopment of the terminal as a gateway to Geelong and the Great Ocean Road, improving ferry services and visitor standards.

Modern facilities and bathrooms, safer access and improved car parking areas are all slated for the project, which is led by the Victorian Government. Construction is expected to begin in the back half of 2020.

Borough of Queenscliffe Cr Ross Ebbels joined state MPs and other local councillors at the launch of the deal in October.
