Budding entrepreneurs are encouraged to take advantage of Round 2 of the Whitsunday Small Business Start-Up Program which open on October 10.

Mayor Andrew Willcox said the Start-Up Program was an exciting Council economic development initiative to assist entrepreneurs in undertaking new or unique business-related activities in the Whitsunday region.

“Council had a positive response to the pilot program launched in January so Round 2 is now open,” he said.

“This is a competitive and merit-based grant program aimed at stimulating new business growth in the region.

“It is important to stress that submissions must not compete with existing small businesses currently operating in the Whitsundays.

“This program will provide funding to successful applicants to undertake business-related activities in relation to a product or service that is new to our region,” Mayor Willcox said.

“Applicants can receive up to $10,000 which must be matched by the applicant 50:50.

“Attracting and enabling entrepreneurs to undertake their new business start-up activities in the Whitsunday region is an initiative that aligns with our identified regional economic opportunities.”

Applications open on 10 October and close on 14 November 2019. To find out more information and apply online, visit https://yoursay.whitsundayrc.qld.gov.au/small-business-startup-grants
