Charters Towers Regional Council is seeking community members to help establish a new advisory committee to assist with the region’s performing arts and cultural program.

The Performing Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee will provide advice to Council on arts and cultural issues that will shape the region and meet the interests of a variety of demographics.

Cr Graham Lohmann said the Committee will enable the community and Council to work together to improve the performing arts and cultural programs provided by Council in our Region.

“By establishing this Committee; it will allow us to work together in a coordinated approach to advise on future decision making on performing arts and cultural matters.

“The committee will be made up of community members with a wide range of interests, experience and understanding of the arts and cultural aspects of our Region. This will allow the Committee to provide informed quality advice to Council on the performing arts and cultural expectations desires and aspirations of our diverse community.

“Through the Committee, we also intend to support development of local performing arts and cultural capacity, encourage innovative arts forms and support the community’s enjoyment of its performing arts and cultural interests,” said Cr Lohmann.

The Committee will meet quarterly and will comprise of:
