Mobile black spots remain in the spotlight

Central Highlands Regional Council continues to target mobile black spots, recently endorsing five locations to seek funding under round five of the Australian Government Mobile Black Spot Program.

Mayor Kerry Hayes said the sites were chosen based on calculation of coverage data, public interest and backed by community consultation and feedback.

‘Council nominated Anakie, Yamala, the Fitzroy Developmental Road between Bauhinia and Duaringa, the Staircase Range lookout between Springsure and Rolleston and southwest of Springsure on the Cungelella Road,’ Mayor Hayes said.

‘Council has committed to making a financial contribution of $10,000 per location approved under round five of the Mobile Black Spot Program.

‘Mobile connectivity is a crucial part to today’s life, even in our rural areas.

‘It’s crucial not only for our social networks and community resilience, but also the way business is done – to be competitive we need to be connected.’
