St Clair longest table raises funds for charity

We are thrilled to announce that $5,131 was raised at the Longest Table #ForkCancer breakfast.

Mayor Angela Evans and CEO Paul Sutton hosted the breakfast at St Clair Recreation Centre on Thursday 22 August, in conjunction with the YMCA and The Hospital Research Foundation.

There were over 110 attendees from our community including Elected Members, Hayden Robins (Chief Executive Officer, YMCA), Paul Flynn (Chief Executive Officer Hospital Research Foundation) and representatives from the South Australian Amateur Soccer League and Royal Adelaide Golf Club.

Guests Speakers on the day included foundation board member Rilka Warbanoff, and medical scientists Joanne Young PhD - Chief Medical Scientist, Solid Tumour Group (The Basil Hetzel Institute) and Professor Claudine Bonder - Head Vascular Biology Laboratory (Centre for Cancer Biology) who discussed their current research on bowel cancer and breast cancer and the significant impact that fundraising initiatives like the Longest Table have on enabling further research.

This event could not have been a success without our wonderful volunteers who baked for the bake sale (over $300 raised), businesses who donated prizes for the silent auction (over $1,900 raised) and everyone who attended on the day (totalling over $2,900 in ticket sales and donations).

Thank you once again to our generous community for raising much needed funds for The Hospital Research Foundation that will go towards lifesaving research and patient care projects.
