Snowy Monaro Regional Council has collaborated with the Regional Lifestyle Magazine to officially launch an exciting 141 page Snowy Monaro feature.

A large crowd gathered at the Snowy Mountains Travellers Rest in Cooma on Friday 16 August to celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of this stunning region.

Special guests included: Dr Mike Kelly AM MP, Federal Member for Eden-Monaro, The Hon Bronnie Taylor MLC, Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women, visiting mayors, Snowy Monaro Regional Councillors, senior council staff, advertisers and local identities.

The formalities were very capably emceed by Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Tourism and Events Manager, Mrs Donna Smith.

“This magazine provides a great way to celebrate and promote all the wonderful stories we have within our region,” Mrs Smith said in her opening remarks.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council Deputy Mayor, Clr Lynley Miners warmly welcomed attendees, who represented all parts of the Snowy Monaro.

Clr Miners called this edition of the Regional Lifestyle Magazine ‘the latest and greatest edition’. He said the feature showcases what we all love about our home, the Snowy Monaro’.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council General Manager Peter Bascomb said the magazine demonstrates what a wonderful region the Snowy Monaro is.

"The extremely high-quality images and wonderful stories within the magazine provides a fantastic showcase for our region and shows what happens when we all work together,” Mr Bascomb said.

Mr Bascomb thanked all those who had shown confidence in the area and had invested in the publication.

Special guest, Dr Mike Kelly also spoke glowingly about the Snowy Monaro.

“This magazine promotes a sense of community and lifestyle here in the Snowy Monaro and shows what wonderful accomplishments are possible in regional Australia,” Dr Kelly said.

Bronnie Taylor MLC acknowledged that the magazine allowed the people of the region to tell and share their stories.

“I feel privileged to be part of the Monaro and I’m so proud of you all. I know we all love where we live,” Mrs Taylor said.

Further presentations were made by Central West Lifestyle publisher and editor Elizabeth Tickle as well as Margaret Seymour, who spoke on behalf of Regional Lifestyle Magazine features writer and photographer, Jake Lindsay, who was unable to attend.

They both acknowledged the vital role of Snowy Monaro Regional Council, advertisers and local story subjects who all saw this feature as an important way of promoting their area.

Guests enjoyed canapes prepared by the The Lott Catering, Cooma, with wines from Shaw Wines, Murrumbateman.
