Your local library will become a science hub during National Science Week.

Kicking off on 9 August, Science Spectacular is a week-long program of activities to give Gold Coasters the opportunity to do science, meet scientists and explore technologies at their library.

Chair of Lifestyle and Community Committee, Cr Hermann Vorster, said Gold Coast Libraries were serving as science hubs for the week.

“The highlight is astronomer Professor Alan Duffy, who’ll be speaking about the ways Australia is finding itself at the cutting edge of space exploration and the possibility of supporting a return to the moon, 50 years on. Prof Duffy is appearing at Robina Library tomorrow night,” he said.

“The program also includes workshops on interactive robotics and artificial intelligence, the magical world of crazy science stage show, virtual reality immersive experience and lectures covering the universe, weather and robots in space.”
