Cassowary Coast Regional Council’s annual Regional Bitumen Reseal Program is scheduled to begin on Monday (July 29). Cr Glenn Raleigh said approximately 33km of sealed roads between Bilyana in the south and Upper Daradgee in the north would be resealed, weather permitting, over the next three weeks. “Council has awarded this $1.2 million contract to Cairns-based FGF Bitumen under a collective procurement arrangement with neighbouring councils through the Far North Queensland Region of Councils organisation,” Cr Raleigh said A Council spokesman said loose stones and soft bitumen would settle as the bitumen hardened. The majority of loose stones were swept off after five days from seal date. An important part of the process was to ensure some stones remained so they were rolled in by traffic movements. Council appreciates your patience and cooperation during this time. . ENDS
