In 1894, after decades of activism, women in South Australia were awarded the right to vote in general elections and stand as members of parliament.

This landmark legislation—the first of its kind in Australia—represents an incredible achievement by men and women, giving both equal political rights and creating a huge step towards gender equality.

Council are celebrating the 125th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage through a series of events that recognise the journey of those who paved the way and those who continue to make valuable contributions to our community.

Hear from and meet inspirational local women, take in a special exhibition at Unley Museum and nominate your inspirational women to be recognised and celebrated.

Unley Women of Influence: Past and Present: Wednesday 21 August A free panel discussion featuring four incredible women, featured in the above image, who are paving the way for future generations and inspiring us all along the way.
