Central Highlands Council grateful for West Tamar Council Donation

Central Highlands Council Mayor Loueen Trifitt met with West Tamar Council Mayor Christina Holmdahl and Councillor Peter Kearney yesterday to express their gratitude for the $5000 donation towards two slide on fire fighting units.

West Tamar Council in its March 2019 Council Meeting supported the motion to donate $5000 to the Central Highlands Council and $5000 to the Huon Valley Council after the recent bush fires.

Central Highlands Council have since made their purchase and were able to show Mayor Holmdahl and Councillor Kearney the fire fighting units. These units each hold 800 litres capacity or water and can be placed on any vehicle.  Central Highlands Council will place one at the Bothwell Depot and the other at the Hamilton Depot.  Not only will these units be on standby for the summer months, they will be utilised for other uses including spot fires and as a precautionary measure when Council are undertaking roadside slashing activities.
